The Global Peace Index 2024 reported a 16-year low in global peace, with 97 countries seeing their peace metrics deteriorate and 56 active state-based conflicts - the highest since World War II. Conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, tensions in the South China Sea, and a fractured global order have deepened inequalities, leaving billions without access to basic resources.

Yet, amidst this turmoil, there’s hope: leaders are talking about peace. On March 28, 2025, President Donald Trump stated in a broadcast on X, “We need Greenland… for international security… We’re talking about world peace,” linking strategic initiatives to global stability.

At NA6UN, we believe peace and equity go hand in hand - through collaboration, economic growth, and shared prosperity, we can build a more equitable world. What began as a corporate journey for global peace 20 years ago has resurfaced as NA6UN, a peace pact to unite not just North America but neighboring Nations who are in constant agitation for safety - Nations like those in Central America facing ongoing security challenges. The recent rift between the USA, Canada, and Mexico over tariffs and trade disputes, such as the 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods announced by Trump in early 2025, underscores the need for unity.

NA6UN weaves a strong connection to peace through technology, infrastructure, and finance, offering a path to stability in a region fraught with tension. 

The Current Geopolitical Landscape and the Equity Gap

The world is more divided than ever, and inequality is at the heart of many conflicts.

The war in Ukraine, now in its third year, has seen recent progress with Trump’s push for peace—on March 25, 2025, Russia and Ukraine agreed to “ensure safe navigation” in the Black Sea, though a proposed 30-day ceasefire fell apart due to Putin’s demands for sanctions relief. In Gaza, the conflict has displaced over 1.9 million people as of late 2024, exacerbating poverty and inequality in the region. Tensions in the South China Sea continue to escalate, with China’s military buildup challenging regional stability.

The UN Secretary-General has noted the Security Council’s deadlock, calling for a “New Agenda for Peace” to address today’s multipolar world. Meanwhile, the World Inequality Report 2024 highlighted that the richest 1% hold nearly half of global wealth, while 2.8 billion people live on less than $6.85 a day. This equity gap fuels unrest and underscores the need for solutions that prioritize shared prosperity.

On March 28, 2025, we sent letters to North American leaders - President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, Prime Minister Mark Carney of Canada, President Donald Trump of the United States, and President Bernardo Arévalo of Guatemala - inviting them to lead this movement for a more equitable world from the region.

President Trump’s recent focus on peace resonates with NA6UN’s mission. His efforts to broker peace in Ukraine and the Middle East, coupled with his statement today about Greenland’s role in “world peace,” highlight the need for strategic initiatives that foster stability and equity.
